Chocolate Crush Valentine’s Recipes: Bourbon Cocktails for the Chocolate Fanatic

For the class attendees at my February 14th Valentines and Galentines class – your recipes!

Lucky in Love (Bourbon Riff on the French 75 featuring pomegranate juice)

  • 1 oz Old Steelhouse bourbon
  • 1 oz pomegranate juice
  • ¼ oz lemon juice
  • ¼ oz simple syrup
  • 4 dashes Scrappy’s chocolate bitters
  • 2-3 oz prosecco to top
  • Garnish: dehydrated lemon

Method: Combine all ingredients except the sparkling wine in a cocktail shaker and fill with ice. Shake for 8 seconds. Strain into a coupe or champagne flute, top with 2-3 oz bubbles and garnish.

Book Boyfriend (Old Fashioned riff with strawberry and chocolate)

  • 2 oz Old Steelhouse bourbon
  • ½ oz strawberry syrup (test with black pepper and balsamic inclusion)
  • 4 dashes chocolate bitters Bittermen’s
  • Garnish: chocolate dipped strawberry

Method: Combine ingredients in a mixing glass and fill with ice. Stir for 20 seconds, then strain into a rocks glass with one large piece of ice. Garnish.

Desire’s Heavy Hand (Manhattan riff with vermouth infused with smoked cacao nibs)

  • 2 oz Old Steelhouse bourbon
  • 1 oz chocolate infused vermouth
  • 2 dashes orange bitters
  • Garnish: dripped chocolate rim/chocolate truffle

Method: Combine ingredients in a mixing glass and fill with ice. Stir for 20 seconds, then strain into a coupe glass rimmed with melted chocolate. Garnish.
