Heaven awaits with this easy twist on a classic mint julep with fresh muddled strawberry, mint, simple syrup, and bourbon in a Strawberry Mint Julep. And the best part: fishing out the bourbon-soaked muddled berries at the bottom of the julep cup after you finish the cocktail.
Combine quartered strawberries and simple syrup in a julep cup and muddle well. Add mint leaves and muddle lightly. Add bourbon, stir once, and fill with crushed ice. Garnish with a healthy sprig or two of mint, with a straw right next to it and a strawberry on top. Serve and drink immediately.
Notes
Strawberry Simple Syrup

1 cup sugar
Mix the sliced strawberries and sugar. Place them in the fridge in a covered container for a day or until they are very juicy. Strain out the strawberries and store the syrup in a glass jar in the fridge. Will keep for 2-3 weeks.
