Brilliant agave spirits deserve a colorful fresh cocktail for the summer. This twist on a smash combines tequila, lime, blueberries, and mint to make a colorful, tasty cocktail that’s easy as all smashes are. For this Blueberry Tequila Smash, you can even do a dump pour, or build in the glass. Just be sure to stir or shake well since we’re working with fresh juices after a muddle.
½ozlime juice(optional as needed depending on the size of your lime above)
9leavesof mint, torn
2oztequilaI used Espanita Reposado
½barspoon mezcalvery optional
Garnish: mint leaf, fresh blueberries, lemon or lime wheel, dehydrated
Instructions
In the bottom of a mixing tin put a small handful of blueberries, enough to fill 1 ½ oz in your jigger. Add simple and cut up lime and muddle well until the blueberries are broken down. Add lime juice if needed. Add mint leaves and muddle just 3 or 4 times, lightly. Add tequila, ice and shake until very cold. Double strain into a rocks glass filled with ice if you’re feeling fancy. Or just dump into a double rocks glass, adding ice as needed. Garnish with mint, blueberries and lemon wheel.
