Mocha Daiquiri – No Take Backs

Picture of Heather Wibbels, Cocktail Contessa, pouring a cocktailHeather Wibbels
Dazzle the tongue with this delectable blend of rum, coffee, chocolate and lime in a daiquiri you never expected would work. It’s a balance of sweet, bitter and sour all blended up in a cocktail that sells itself from the first sip to the last. You can make it without the mocha chocolate glaze, but it’s an awfully fun addition.

  • 2 oz rum
  • 1 oz lime juice
  • 3/4 oz coffee liqueur I used XO Café
  • 1 oz crème de cocoa
  • 12 drops Crude Bitters Big Bear
  • Garnish: lime peel mocha glaze

Instructions

  • Combine rum, lime juice, coffee liqueur, cocoa liqueur and bitters in a shaker tin and fill with ice. Shake until the outside of the tin is so cold it’s hard to hold. Double strain into a chilled cocktail glass with mocha glaze on the rim.

Notes

Mocha Glaze:
Add equal parts powdered sugar and cocoa powder to a small bowl and stir until well combined. Add hot coffee in ½ oz increments, stirring in between until the glaze is thick and smooth. Let cool slightly before using.
