All Hot ‘n’ Buttered – A Hot Buttered Rum Cider

Take your Hot Buttered Rum up a notch with this apple cider-based cocktail featuring Ballotin Caramel Turtle Chocolate Whiskey, rum, and of course a healthy dose of butter, sugar, and spices. Easy to make and batch, it’s the perfect cocktail to put together to curl up in front of the fireplace or share with friends on cold winter nights.

Ingredients
  

  • 2 tablespoons hot buttered rum mix**
  • 1.5 oz Ballotin Caramel Turtle Chocolate Whiskey
  • 0.5 oz aged rum
  • 6 oz hot apple cider
  • Optional: whipped cream float
  • Garnish: cinnamon stick and star anise or orange peel with clove

Instructions
 

  • Heat apple cider in a microwave-proof mug until very hot but not boiling. Add in hot buttered rum mix, Ballotin Caramel Turtle, rum and stir well. Top with whipped cream if desired. Garnish.

Notes

**Hot Buttered Rum Mix:
  • 1 stick butter (room temperature)
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • 1.5 tsp cinnamon
  • ½ tsp ground nutmeg
  • ½ tsp ground ginger
  • 1.5 tsp vanilla
Cream together the ingredients with a mixer or mix well by hand. Store in a small jar in the fridge.
